MFU Expands Healthcare Access for All, Launching Cancer Screening Initiative at Wat Huay Pla Kang Hospital for the General Public
Categories: SDG03 ข่าวภาษาอังกฤษMae Fah Luang University (MFU), through the collective efforts of the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing and the Mae Fah Luang University Medical Center Hospital, launched a mobile breast and cervical cancer screening project to enhance healthcare access for women in rural areas.
Held on 26 June 2026, at Wat Huay Pla Kang Hospital for the General Public in Mueang Chiang Rai District, this initiative was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr.Preecha Soontranan, Dean of the School of Medicine, along with Dr. Jullapong Achalapong, the Project Chair. Together with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses, they provided vital screenings to 100 local residents.
To further bolster the initiative, Kasemrad Sriburin Hospital in Chiang Rai contributed to the project by deploying a mobile X-ray and health check-up unit to support the onsite operations.
This project aims to expand quality medical services into remote regions, ensuring equitable healthcare opportunities for all. Furthermore, it focuses on upskilling local public health personnel in basic breast cancer screenings. This directly addresses a critical national health challenge, as breast and cervical cancers are the top two cancers diagnosed among women in Chiang Rai Province.
MFU is dedicated to serving as a reliable healthcare anchor for people at all levels of society. By elevating care standards through modern technology, MFU positions itself as a regional hub for health science research and education within the Greater Mekong Subregion. Through initiatives like this, the university actively builds local healthcare capacity to ensure well-being and healthy lives for people of all ages.
