MFU Lecturer Win Award in the 1st ICRU International Conference

     MFU would like to congratulate lecturer from Shizuoka University in Japan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amnaj Khaokhrueamuang and the Director of the Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University, Dr. Piyaporn Chueamchaitrakun who won the Best Paper Award for the outstanding joint research entitled “Tea Cultural Commodification in Sustainable Tourism: Perspectives from Thai and Japanese Farmer Exchange” in the 1st ICRU International Conference: Sustainable Community Development from 18-20 February 2019 at the Empress Hotel Chiang Mai, Thailand.

     This joint research between Thailand and Japan is an interdisciplinary study integrating knowledge from tourism and food technology disciplines. The study aimed at offering the guidelines on sustaining tea products and promoting sustainable tourism for tea communities in Tawara Village, Nara City, Japan, and Huey Nam Guen Village, Chiang Rai province, Thailand.

     The 1st ICRU International Conference: Sustainable Community Development was organised by Chiang Mai Rajabhat University and hosted by six Rajabhat Universities and three Overseas University Networks. The conference was initiated as a venue for academicians and researchers to express and share their findings, together with building networks in order to mutually achieve the ultimate goals of United Nations’ sustainable development.

     Winning this award shows that MFU is keeping its commitment to supporting tea research in both domestic and international levels as well as providing effective tool for problem solving and development of tea industry in Thailand and the region.
