To enhance international students’ understanding of Thai culture, the International Affairs Division held the Thai Culture Month activity for international students. The activity was divided into two parts; Thai Cultural Workshop which was held on 5 April 2019 at the Mekong Basin Civilization Museum and Thai Cooking Class which was held on 27 April 2019 at the Food Laboratory at Scientific & Technological Laboratory building.

In Thai Cultural Workshop, Thai students provided knowledge and shared experiences about Thai culture with international students through the various art workshops including Thai performing arts, paper cutting handicrafts in Lanna style and toy from recycled materials. Furthermore, both Thai and international students enjoyed learning how to cook two Thai dishes including Spicy Thai Basil Chicken and Thai green curry.

As Thai cuisine and art can indicate the way of life, thoughts and spirits of Thai people, the cultural workshop provided an opportunity for international students to gain a deeper understanding and submerge themselves into Thai culture from an amazing hand-on experience. It also served as a bridge connecting Thai and international students to create connections and enhance their cross-cultural communication skill.
