Ten students from the Food Science and Technology programme, the School of Agro-Industry got a chance to broaden their horizons at the Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University under the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (or the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science) from 30 June to 12 July 2019.

This programme featured a series of interesting activities.  MFU students gained scientific technology knowledge through a practice in the Postharvest and Food Engineering laboratory and study visit at Yamazaki Baking Co., Ltd. , Tokyo National Museum  as well as Japan International Food Machinery & Technology Exhibition (FOOMA JAPAN 2019). Additionally, they had an opportunity to learn a history of Japan and exchange culture with Japanese students.

The Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science is supported by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). This program seeks to act as a bridge for personnel and research exchange between Japan and the partner countries by inviting outstanding young students and young professionals from Asian countries on short-term visits to Japan.

To develop global competence and enhance their ability to live in harmony amidst cultural diversity, MFU always encourages its students to go aboard.  The university believes that the exchange experience in Japan will not only offer an international network for students but also inspire them to make a contribution to the development of science and technology in Thailand and Asia in the future.
