MFU Students’ Medical Invention Win Awards in Two Innovation Competitions

Mae Fah Luang would like to congratulate students from the School of Medicine, the School of Science, the School of Integrative Medicine and the School of Management who seized the awards with their outstanding medical device entitled “Design and fabrication of below knee stump bandage instrument using pressure control” in the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2020 and the Research to Market Thailand 2020.

The below knee stump bandage instrument was initiated by a student from the School of Medicine. It has been developed by multidisciplinary team members from the School of Science, the School of Integrative Medicine and the School of Management to help prepare patients with a below-knee amputation for a prosthesis.

This beneficial device won the silver medal in the health and medicine category in Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2020” (I-New Gen Award 2020) held by the National Research Council of Thailand on 6 February 2020.

Furthermore, the device won the Second Runner-up in the Research to Market Thailand 2020 which was held by the Southern Thailand Science Park in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation on 1 February 2020 at the Southern Thailand Science Park, Songkhla Province.

The winning team members includes:

Ms. Tidathep Muenvises from the School of Medicine;

Mr. Chomchon Klongkarnkien from the School of Science;

Ms. Tatpicha Peerakittikul from the School of Integrative Medicine;

Ms. Aweena Suklueang from the School of Management;

Mr. Kerkkiat Somsri from the School of Management; and

Mr. Sakson Chantros from the School of Management.

Additionally, the team was supervised by lecturers from the School of Medicine Dr. Arnon Jumlongkul and Dr. Kittisak Thitipanya as well as a lecturer from the School of Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suthee Wattanasiriwech.

Winning many awards in the national level shows MFU students’ creativity and multidisciplinary perspectives in improving medical care and rehabilitation methods for people.
