22 Years of Excellence: Moving Towards to Become a Leading University in ASEAN and Beyond

    On 25 September 2020, Mae Fah Luang University celebrated its 22nd anniversary with joy and happiness for its myriad achievements. MFUs celebration began with alms offerings to 160 monks followed by a ceremony to pay homage to the royal statue of HRH Princess Srinagarindra, a religious ceremony, a public report, a presentation of certificates and a scholarship presentation at the Princess Srinagarindra Auditorium (C4).

    Since 1998, MFU has been widely recognised as one of the regions fastest growing institutions. As a result of its continued support of research and its internationalisized environment, Mae Fah Luang University ranked 1st in Thailand in Times Higher Education World University Young University Rankings 2020. Moreover, this year, MFU retains top spot for the 2nd consecutive year in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings with highest score in the research citation and international outlook categories in Thailand.

    The President of MFU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chayaporn Wattanasiri said in a public report section that MFU is determining to become one of top 5 universities in the ASEAN within 10 years by improving five main aspects: quality excellence; professional excellence; service excellence; and international excellence.

   The university has been developing its standard of education in keeping with global standards including the standard of the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Moreover, MFU established the MFU learning Innovation Hub (MLi) to fully support modern education and promote new skillset, training-workshop-consultation and technology and innovation. The University also plans to offer short courses for upskilling, reskilling and career promotion for the society.

    By 2021, MFU will enhance the research capacity, research standard and collaboration with private sector and international partners focusing on community development. For example, MFU is joining hands with Chiang Rai province, private sector and agriculturalist to implement sustainable solution for the air pollution problem in Chiang Rai.

   Furthermore, the MFU Medical Center Hospital will offer new specialist clinics: cancer, colonoscopy, bone and joint to improve the health of people in Northern Thailand and the Greater Mekong Subregion.

   Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chayaporn Wattanasiri added that the reason for MFUs achievements over the past twenty two years is the values of the university called MFU First”. This FIRSTstands for Flexibility; Integrity; Resourcefulness; Spirit and Teamwork.

   Driven by the determination and effort of everyone in MFU community, MFU will maintain its national academic leadership status and to steadily become a leading university that serves society with high-quality research, teaching, and internationalized activities in ASEAN and beyond.
