Cooperation with the Consulate General of Japan in Chiang Mai for Japanese Language Education

    On 13 November 2020, the Consul General of Japan in Chiang Mai, Mr. Hiroshi Matsumoto and the Vice Consul, Mr. Taihei Ade visited Mae Fah Luang University to discuss academic cooperation with MFU executives.

    The Consul General of Japan, Mr. Hiroshi Matsumoto stated that nowadays the Japanese companies in Thailand especially industrial sector are looking for a lot of Thai graduates who can communicate well in Japanese.  The Consul General added that it would be great if Mae Fah Luang University could produce more Japanese-speaking graduates and also Japanese interpreters.

    Now, the School of Liberal Arts, MFU provides five Japanese language courses. In addition, MFU has recognized the importance of Japanese language teaching and decided to offer more Japanese language courses in order to meet the labour market needs of Japanese-speaking Thai interpreters. In this regard, MFU requested the Consulate General of Japan in Chiang Mai to support and provide Japanese language teachers and volunteer teachers to teach at MFU.

    Altogether, MFU and the Consulate General of Japan in Chiang Mai agreed to develop cooperation between the two institutions for promoting Japanese Language teaching at MFU.
